Abstract and Keywords

Abstract: The subchronic toxicity of ionic liquid tetrafluoroborate-1-tetradecyl-3-methylimidazole salt $ \left(\left[C_{14}\text{mim}\right]BF_{4}\right) $ to rats was studied in different exposure time. A blank control group and three exposed groups(12.5, 25.0, and 50.0 mg/kg) were set up in the experiment. After 30, 60, and 90 days of oral exposure, the changes of body weight, serum biochemical indexes, organ coefficients and histomorphology of rats in each group were investigated. The results showed that, compared with the blank control group, with the increase of exposure dose and exposure time of $ \left[C_{14}\text{mim}\right]BF_{4} $, the weight gain of rats first decreased and then increased, the liver coefficient increased, and the serum levels of ALT, AST, ALP, DBIL, TBIL, $ \gamma $-GT and the AST to ALT ratio gradually increased. Histopathological results showed that the liver and kidney of rats in the exposed group had different degrees of damage and pathological changes. The results showed that subchronic exposure of $ \left[C_{14}\text{mim}\right]BF_{4} $ could cause liver and kidney damage in rats, and the damage was dose-dependent and time-dependent.
