Abstract and Keywords

Abstract: Bisphenol A (BPA) is an environmental endocrine disruptor that can cause disturbances in liver lipid metabolism. During fasting, $ \beta $-Hydroxybutyrate ( $ \beta $-HB) is the primary ketone body produced through fatty acid $ \beta $-oxidation to supply energy. This paper investigates the effect of $ \beta $-HB intake on the liver of mice exposed to BPA and the underlying mechanisms. C57 mice were used and divided into four groups: control, BPA, $ \beta $-HB, and $ \beta $-HB+BPA. The lipid deposition in mice was identified through HE and Oil Red O staining. The experimental results showed that compared with the blank control group, the BPA group induced liver lipid accumulation in mice, while $ \beta $-HB supplementation alleviated lipid accumulation caused by BPA exposure through inhibiting histone deacetylase HDAC2. This study helps to enhance public understanding of the impact of environmental pollution on health, and provides new strategies for the treatment of liver lipid metabolism disorders caused by environmental factors.
