Abstract: In order to study the mechanical performance of the old reinforced concrete column after unilateral reinforcement, simulation analysis was conducted with different reinforced section sizes, different lateral force directions and different initial axial compression ratios under monotonic horizontal load using ABAQUS finite element software. Compared with unreinforced old columns, the results show that the lateral bearing capacity of reinforced concrete columns in the two main axis directions significantly increases after reinforcement, and increases with the increase of the size of the reinforced section, but the ductility does not change significantly; the greater the axial compression ratio, the more significant the increase in the lateral bearing capacity in the two main axis directions, but the later ductility decreases more significantly.
