Abstract: Thymoquinone(TQ) is a natural compound extracted from black grass seeds, which has been proved to have antioxidant, anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory effects, and has therapeutic effects on enteritis caused by external factors such as radiation. In this work, the classical model organism Drosophila melanogaster was studied, and it was found that TQ could improve the life span of wild Drosophila melanogaster. In addition, the protective effect of TQ on intestinal inflammation in Drosophila melanogaster ulcerative colitis(UC) model induced by dextran sodium sulfate(DSS) was investigated. It was found that TQ could significantly improve the survival rate and climbing ability in Drosophila melanogaster UC model induced by DSS, and improve the intestinal morphology and intestinal wall injury of adults induced by DSS exposure. To sum up, TQ intake can obviously alleviate DSS-induced UC.
